The Cultural Identity and Subjectivity of Translators in the Context of Cultural Globalization: A Case Study of Globalization Studies and Classic Theories of Transnationalism

Abstract—In the context of cultural globalization, cultural exchanges between different countries have become increasingly frequent. The integration of cultures has brought profound changes to the global culture while also triggering cultural conflicts. As an important medium for cross-cultural communication, translators play a crucial role in handling the relationship between language and culture, with their cultural identity and subjectivity being of paramount importance in the translation process. This paper takes selected chapters of the Chinese and English versions of Globalization Studies and Classic Theories of Transnationalism as research objects, and explores in depth how translators find a balance between fidelity and adaptability from the perspectives of translators’ cultural identity and subjectivity.
